The Mental Health Clinician with Ash & Birch Counseling provides professional outpatient counseling services to individuals, couples, families and/or groups experiencing various mental health and/or emotional challenges. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, implementing therapeutic interventions, and promoting the well-being of clients in accordance with ethical standards, best practices and weight-inclusive care.

Employment Structure
Working either hybrid (in our Puyallup office) or fully in-person.
W-2 positions with flexible scheduling.
Compensation
$75,000-$85,000 depending upon licensure status and experience

Ash & Birch Counseling is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Clinician. This role involves conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnosing disorders using DSM-5 criteria, and collaborating with clients to develop personalized treatment plans. The provider will offer individual, couples, group, and/or family counseling sessions, utilizing evidence-based approaches such as CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, and EFT, all through a trauma-informed lens.
Responsibilities include monitoring and documenting client progress, maintaining accurate and confidential records, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The role also involves engaging in crisis intervention, developing crisis management plans, and advocating for clients' mental health needs. Additionally, the provider will conduct workshops and educational sessions, promote equity, and challenge systemic barriers.
Candidates are expected to participate in ongoing training, supervision, and peer consultation. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team dedicated to providing holistic and compassionate care to the community.
Ash & Birch Counseling is seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Clinician. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, and be licensed or license-eligible (LMHC, LMHCA, LICSW, LICSWA, LMFT, LMFTA) in Washington State. Candidates must be located in Washington State and be able to pass a background check.
Ideal candidates will possess strong therapeutic and assessment skills, excellent communication and active listening abilities, and the capacity to handle crisis situations with calm and professionalism. Maintaining consistent professional boundaries is essential to support sustainable engagement in therapeutic work.
Preferred qualifications include 2 years of clinical experience in mental health counseling, experience with specific populations such as eating disorders, children, veterans, or trauma survivors, certification in therapeutic approaches like EMDR or EFT, and proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Mental Health Clinicians at Ash & Birch Counseling can work either work a hybrid (in-person and remote) or a fully in-person position.
Full-time positions provide 25-28 client hours per week to include at least 2 evening appointments plus administrative responsibilities and other duties as assigned. Flexible scheduling available.
Mental Health Clinicians must be emotionally resilient, as they will encounter emotional and potentially stressful situations that require professionalism and empathy. Contributing to a supportive team environment is essential, fostering a collaborative and positive workplace.
