Ash & Birch Counseling provides an exceptional internship program tailored to foster professional development. With weekly supervision aligned with program requirements, interns are guaranteed guidance and mentorship throughout the journey. Interns at Ash & Birch Counseling gain comprehensive clinical experience, working with individuals, couples, children, adolescents, and families. To enhance the journey, a stipend and mental health therapy benefit are provided, prioritizing the well-being of interns. The program emphasizes a weight-inclusive approach, respecting all body types and promoting health and well-being without emphasizing weight. The comfortable office space is an added advantage, and there is significant potential for employment upon graduation.

To become a mental health intern at Ash & Birch Counseling, candidates must be enrolled in an accredited counseling or related program. They are expected to complete the required clinical weekly hours set by their graduate program, complete the onboarding process, and pass a background check. Applicants must provide two professional recommendation letters, an unofficial transcript, a resume, and a cover letter. Interns are also required to obtain active student liability insurance for the duration of their internship. Candidates must be located in Washington state. Interns must practice a weight-inclusive approach, which emphasizes respect for all body types and encourages health and well-being without focusing on weight.

Mental health interns at Ash & Birch Counseling work in a hybrid environment, combining in-person and virtual services to offer flexibility and a diverse experience. The role requires working at least one evening shift per week (at least one appointment past 5 pm). Interns must be emotionally resilient, as they will encounter emotional and potentially stressful situations that require professionalism and empathy. Contributing to a supportive team environment is essential, fostering a collaborative and positive workplace. This setting provides a comprehensive and enriching experience, preparing interns for a successful career in mental health counseling.
