Hi there!

I'm Courtney Dowell. (she/her)

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Associate.

Clinical Interests: Adolescents (16+), Adults, Couples and Families Navigating Trauma, PTSD, Anxiety and Panic, OCD, Disordered Eating, Relational Difficulties, Abuse Recovery, Caregiver Stress, Neurodivergence, Significant Life Transition

Ongoing Learning: I enjoy working with clients navigating the effects of complex trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, eating disorders, identity development, and relationship challenges. I also have a growing interest in working with individuals experiencing personality disorders and long-standing relational patterns. My work draws from psychodynamic, attachment-based, somatic, and IFS approaches, and I welcome conversations about spirituality when they are meaningful to my clients. Above all, I’m passionate about helping people understand the deeper stories that have shaped their lives so they can move toward greater freedom, connection, and wholeness.

Practice Locations: Providing in-person services in both the Puyallup and Olympia offices, and virtually throughout the state of Washington.

About Me

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate and earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. I work with adolescents (16+), adults, and couples navigating complex trauma and abuse recovery, anxiety and panic, OCD, disordered eating, neurodivergence, intense emotions, identity concerns, and longstanding relational patterns, as well as caregiver stress and significant life transitions.

There are many approaches to therapy. Some focus on changing behaviors or thought patterns, while others attend closely to the body. My approach is integrative and holistic, engaging mind, body, relationships, personal story, and—when meaningful to you—spirit. My therapeutic foundation draws from attachment-based, psychodynamic, somatic, narrative, and trauma-informed approaches, along with parts-work, CBT, DBT, and ERP.

I aim to understand the language of your inner world and help you make sense of your experience. Trauma and painful relationships can create a sense of fragmentation, with different parts of us overfunctioning, withdrawing, protecting, performing, or carrying burdens not meant to be held alone. Our work is toward integration: developing compassion for these patterns while opening new possibilities for how you relate to yourself, your body, and others. My hope is to offer a warm, collaborative space where you can explore your experience honestly and move toward greater freedom, connection, acceptance, and growth.
